Since 2022, during the month of July NACS organizes a research seminar, focused on a specific topic. The seminar takes place in a city in the Catalan Countries and aims to exchange ideas on the chosen topic and establish links with Catalan researchers from all over.

In recognition of Barcelona’s designation by UNESCO as the 2026 World Capital of Architecture, the North American Catalan Society will devote its 5th Summer Seminar to architecture. Echoing the theme proposed by the International Union of Architects’ World Congress, “Becoming: Architectures for a Planet in Transition,” also happening in Barcelona in 2026, this seminar will feature contributions that explore the intersections of architecture and Catalan studies.
